Chongqing- A press conference of Outstanding Village Party Secretary organized by the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Chongqing Municipal Committee was held on July 21.

The conference invited the representatives of outstanding secretaries from rural grass-roots party organizations in Nanchuan, Tongliang, Rongchang, and Shizhu districts, who shared inspiring stories from their job experiences.

Treating villagers as family

As the Secretary of the Party Branch and Director of the Village Committee of Jinlong Village, Daguan Town in Nanchuan District, Luo Chunlan always treats villagers as her own family members.

She puts development into the first priority, which subsequently contributes to industrial integration and rural revitalization.

Luo took the lead in introducing investors and built four “1000-mu (about 6.7 hectares) planting bases and 20,000 square meters of agricultural experience picking garden”.

Supported by leading enterprises, she raised an idea about tourism agriculture and promoted the sales of local agricultural and sideline products. More than 50 farmhouses in Jinlong Village achieved additional receiving under her guidance.  

Meanwhile, Luo initiated the creation of a platform that concentrates to develop the collective economy in the village. Through the cooperation with some training schools and village enterprises, a 4,500-square-meter ecological parking lot, the Nanchuan District Rural Revitalization Institute, and the Jinlong Village Senior Center were successfully built.

Additionally, Luo also suggested introducing a new economy, including modern technology agribusiness, education as well as bed and breakfast inns. At present, 13 enterprises, one high-grade B&B, and 26 new-built farmhouses are settled in Jinlong Village, injecting a strong impetus to rural revitalization.

Under unremitting efforts, Jinlong Village has undergone tremendous changes and won honorary titles including the national culturally advanced village, rural governance demonstration village, a most beautiful and green village in China and etc.

All these outcomes have enhanced people's sense of gain, happiness, and security.

Rooted in the hometown for 10 years

Deng Yuehu, a graduate of Hainan University majoring in vehicle engineering, returned to Rongchang District in 2011 as a University Student Village Officer and has stayed at his hometown for 10 years.

Deng, Secretary of the Party Branch of Tong’an Village in Rongchang District, led the villagers to explore a development route, with a target of strengthening the collective economy and integration of culture and tourism. He was committed to building a think tank resource platform and promoting rural revitalization cohesively.

In addition, through nourishing the leading role of party construction, Deng explored multiple development paths such as the improvement of human habitat, which came out with a considerable annual net income of more than 200,000 yuan (about 30,908 U.S. dollars).

Also, the village valued the talent and introduced the rural revitalization workstation of Tsinghua University, which serves as the only case in the whole city.

Under his leadership, Tong’an Village harvested remarkable improvement in its living environment and has been awarded many honorary titles like National Beautiful Village, National Civilized Village, Rural Revitalization Innovation Model Village, Chongqing Rural Governance Model Village, and Chongqing Advanced Urban and Rural Community.
