Chongqing Travel Guide: The Sights and Sounds of a Journey at Antao Town

Chongqing - Rongchang Pottery, based in Antao Town, is honored as one of the National Intangible Heritages with a history of more than 800 years. Recognized as one of China’s Four Ceramic Capitals, Rongchang has seen a wonderful integration of culture, tourism, education, and industrial development.

In this episode, we had an eye-opening trip in Antao town, the heart of pottery culture and craftsmanship. Rich, premier clay resources led to its prosperity and flourishment, which is exactly the meaning of Rongchang in Chinese. No doubt the people living here feel happy and fulfilled as pottery can be made into a range of daily necessities such as pickle jars, rice containers, teapots, cups, vases, and more, both practical and economical. To feel the vibe, we made our own pottery wares in person with the guidance of Master Liu, a local artisan devoted to pottery-making for 56 plus years.
