Chongqing- On the evening of June 1st, 2021, two children were involved in a drowning incident in the Yangtze River at Wanfa Pier, Dadukou District.

PE teacher Wang Hongxu from Yucai Primary School in Dadukou District was at the scene with a friend when the incident took place, and ran 100 meters to the riverside and dived into the water.

Then the two children were successfully rescued, but Wang Hongxu, a 35-year-old PE teacher from Yucai Primary School, was unfortunately swept away by the strong current and was recovered the next day by rescue teams.

Teacher Wang Hongxu has since been honored as a good man and an excellent teacher in homage to his bravery and personal sacrifice.

A police convoy was arranged for the hearse of Wang Hongxu to pass by the gates of Yucai Primary School, where students, colleagues, and members of the general public lined up in their thousands to pay their last respects with salutes, flowers, and a chorus of vehicle horns.
