The Smart Expo Cup Industrial Design Competition 2021 hosted by the Chongqing Municipal People’s Government has kicked off recently. This competition adheres to the principle of opening up, with the highest prize of 1 million yuan (about 154,351.95 U.S. dollars), according to Chongqing Yuelai Investment Group Co., Ltd., the co-organizer of the competition.

Under the principle of opening up, all enterprises, institutions, academies, design teams, or designers from home and abroad can participate in the competition. The entries can be divided into four categories: equipment manufacturing, good life, industrial services, and concept design.

Participants can sign up on the competition's official website (www.sccid.org.cn), fill in, and submit relevant materials as required. The same work can only be submitted by one applicant, but the same applicant can submit multiple works.

The competition has set up a top prize (of 1 million yuan), the highest award in the competition, which will be selected from the gold awards of the four categories. The three categories of equipment manufacturing, good life, and industrial services respectively provide one gold award (100,000 yuan/person), three silver awards (50,000 yuan/person), and five bronze awards (30,000 yuan/person). The concept design category offers two gold awards (50,000 yuan/person), five silver awards (20,000 yuan/person), and ten bronze awards (10,000 yuan/person). The instructors of works winning bronze and higher awards will be awarded the "Excellent Instructor."

The competition includes two steps, initial review and final review. The initial assessment will be carried out in each of the four categories. In the case of an insufficient number or low quality of entries, the organizing committee has the right to cancel the review of that category or include the entries in other categories. The works passing the initial examination will enter the final evaluation to determine the outcomes for gold, silver, and bronze awards and the supreme award in each category.

To encourage and support the industrialization of entries, the government will provide policy support for outstanding entries that have been industrialized.
