A couple of days ago, China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity (CCI) Administrative Bureau planned to implement 10 major projects to help Chongqing become an international consumption center with broader connotations at a higher degree and level.

According to the relevant plan, the year 2021 should witness the deepening of Chongqing's construction as an international consumption center faster and the start of CCI's 14th five-year plan period. Based on the list of 10 major projects, the CCI Administrative Bureau will gather international consumption resources, improve international consumption services and build an international consumption environment. It will take the lead in implementing strategic and demonstrative overall requirements in specific projects.

To build international consumer brands

In the list, brand building has been given priority to improve the agglomeration effect and the “80-20 rule” of international consumption capacity.

The first item on the list is building Raffles City Chongqing into an international consumption demonstration area. Yang Yi, Deputy Director-General of the CCI Administrative Bureau, introduced that the bureau will assist Yuzhong District in building the landmark landscape "Chaotian Yangfan (lit. Setting Sail)" and continuously improve the building quality and urban landscapes of Raffles City Chongqing for constructing an international consumption demonstration area.

The second project in the list, CCI · Sasseur REIT International Living Art Festival, pays more attention to "software" construction.

As the Sasseur REIT has been listed in Singapore, Chongqing could actively introduce global excellent resources in such fields as clothing, food, entertainment, and culture and hold CCI · Sasseur REIT International Living Art Festival.

To expand the global vision

Aviation is a key cooperation field of CCI and one of the focuses in this list. Singapore Changi Airport, one of the busiest airports globally, has been rated as the world's best airport for many consecutive years.

The third project lies in learning the experience of Changi Airport in airport planning and management. China-Singapore airport commercial joint ventures are encouraged to actively introduce branded restaurants and cultural and tourism stores with Singaporean characteristics to create a port business with Southeast Asian flavor.

"Aviation + tourism" is the fourth project. CCI will fully leverage the role of Chongqing and Singapore's "dual hubs" and the 144-hour visa-free transit policy in Chengdu and Chongqing, which are tourist distributing centers for each other. By virtue of Chongqing-Singapore air routes and integrated "aviation + tourism" development, CCI will actively develop "aviation + tourism" products for the transfer of Singaporean tourists from Chongqing to inland China and the transfer of Chinese tourists from Chongqing to Singapore to attract tourists from the two places to Chongqing.

To enrich consumer market supply

The fifth item in the list is to enrich consumer market supply by importing famous and quality food. Chongqing will encourage and guide enterprises in western China and ASEAN countries to participate in the two-way trade cooperation of China-Singapore specialty agricultural products through market construction. More famous and high-quality food from Singapore and ASEAN can be gathered and consumed in Chongqing. The city also aims to advance China-Singapore agricultural sci-tech cooperation based on this logic of consumption.

The sixth project lies in the online area, striving to advance project cooperation in China-Singapore cross-border e-commerce consumption. CCI will deepen business-to-business food trade cooperation between Chongqing and Singapore. In addition, it is slated to fully leverage Chongqing's basic advantages in manufacturing and Singapore's experience in international trade to expand the two-way import and export of industrial products.

To set up communication platforms

For the 7th project, Chongqing will strive for branded, large-scale, and regular holding of Chongqing-Singapore Week and Singapore-Chongqing Week and create new models for cooperation and exchanges between the two places.

The realization of any grand and vast industrial map must start with the implementation of specific items. Therefore, the CCI Administrative Bureau launched the 8th project, expanding the consumption of characteristic education like quality education and talent training.

To upgrade the health industry

To implement the 9th project, CCI will be committed to improving high-quality medical care and senior care-oriented characteristic health consumption. Medical service providers such as Raffles Hospital Chongqing, Chongqing China-Singapore Tumor Hospital, and International Ophthalmology allow Chinese and foreign patients to enjoy high-quality services.

The last one on the list is to raise the level of international exchanges and cooperation and international conventions and exhibitions. Chongqing's international conventions and well-known exhibitions in China, such as the Western China International Fair for Investment and Trade, Smart China Expo, and China-Singapore (Chongqing) Connectivity Initiative Financial Summit, will attract more enterprises from Singapore.

The introduction and launch of the 10 major projects are of epoch-making significance, which will surely help Chongqing get in on the ground floor to build itself into an international consumption center.
