Chongqing, Birthplace of Chinese Democratic Parties | Centennial Milestones⑧

Chongqing- The Kuomintang government relocated to Chongqing from Nanjing during the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, and Chongqing became the provisional capital of China.

As a result, prominent political figures, military, economics, and culture gathered in the city as Chongqing became a heartland for political factions, social organizations, and non-affiliated democrats active in national reconstruction.

The China Democratic League, China Democratic National Construction Association, and Jiu San Society were set up in Chongqing, among eight such organizations. Chongqing became known as the main birthplace of democratic parties in China.
