Consul & Head of Austrian Consulate General in Guangzhou: More Austrian Companies Coming to Chongqing

Chongqing – Birgit Murr, Consul (Commercial Affairs) & Head of Austrian Consulate General Guangzhou , has accepted iChongqing's exclusive interview to talk about its highlights at the 2021 Smart China Expo.

Ms. Murr's 1st visit to Chongqing was about 30 years ago. She witnessed the fascinating development of this city and was amazed by its growth. She introduced the four areas of the Austrian pavilion, including smart industries, smart logistics, smart culture, and smart winter sports. As demonstrated by Murr, Austrian companies are interested in industrial opportunities and the cultural and tourism sectors. However, most Austrian companies focus on the eastern China market and know little about the southwest region; Smart China Expo brought them opportunities to learn about it.

"And the fourth topic is logistics because we know Chongqing is one of the hubs to on the one hand the (silk road) to train connected to Europe, but also the connection to the south to Guangxi (province )and Singapore. So we want to make use of this chance as well", she said.

Attending SCE is their first stop to know about Chongqing, "We really try to push our strong companies to move on, not only be working in the east of China but come to southwest China (as well)."
