Deputy Secretary-General of SCO: Chongqing’s experience on digital economy benefits SCO countries

Chongqing - iChongqing has conducted a series of exclusive interviews with experts and guests from the China- SCO Forum on Digital Economy Industry. Yerik Ashimov, Deputy Secretary-General of SCO, has accepted our interview and discussed the topics related to the digital economy development and logistics cooperation with Chongqing.

Initially, he introduced how SCO develop during the 20-year of its establishment, "the unremitting efforts of the SCO going back twenty years have been devoted to strengthening friendship and harmony between the neighboring countries, expanding cooperation in the political and economic field, as well as guaranteeing peace in the region," he said.

President Xi Jinping sent his congratulatory letter to the SCO forum and 2021 SCE. Ashimov suggested that this SCO forum aims to act upon the proposals of President Xi that he put forward last year in Moscow at the Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Council. "China’s development experience in the digital economy and cross-border e-commerce is of great demonstrative value, and the open mind shown by the Chinese government in sharing the fruits of development is highly commendable," said Ashimov.

When talking about logistics, Ashimov indicated Chongqing is a transportation hub in southwest China. It played an important role for the SCO countries through the China-Europe Railway Express and obtained more development opportunities as a result.
