Chongqing- Aiming to collaborate with automobile enterprises in Chongqing, Movel AI has participated at the Smart China Expo (SCE) for two years, said Abhishek Gupta, CEO of Movel AI.

"When you see the robotic markets throughout the world, China is leading the robotic market," said Gupta. "More than 7,000 active robotic companies just registered in China, which gives a huge market opportunity for us."

Movel AI is a Singapore-based company building software for robotic navigation using computer vision and sensor fusion with the stated intention of allowing robots to operate in challenging contexts, such as busy airports, popular restaurants, and high-producing factories.

Combining sensor fusion, vision, machine learning, and artificial intelligence technologies, the robotics startup building AI-based autonomous navigation software for robots was founded in December 2016 and is backed by 500 Startups, SGInnovate and Enterprise Singapore.

Interest to collaborate with Chongqing companies

Gupta raised his interest to collaborate with companies based in Chongqing. "There are a lot of automobile companies based in Chongqing, and they have huge warehouses or factories where they are mainly doing the manufacturing," said Gupta. "For that, they will need the demand for robotics. We see a lot of potentials for us to collaborate with those all-terrain vehicles (ATV) manufacturers to use our software."

The added value, output, and production value of Chongqing’s automobile industry surged 25%, 47%, and 29% respectively from last year this time, local authorities said on August 11.

At present, the proportion of vehicles priced at more than 100,000 yuan in Chongqing has increased from 30% in 2017 to 42%. Chongqing is now holding a firm lead in China’s automobile industry, especially the high-end development of self-owned brands, and never rely on mid-and low-end products.

"Lots of Singapore-based companies are considering and expanding into China," said Gupta. Movel AI has been actively involved in different partnership programs organized by Singapore and the Chinese government.

China-Singapore Young Talent Cooperation

This April, Chongqing, and Singapore jointly held an agreement-signing event of seven recent cooperation projects in science and technology, talent, agriculture, energy, and other fields.

The young talent cooperation project partners include WiseNet Asia Pte Ltd., Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT), and Chongqing Yubei District People’s Government. Through graduate programs like master’s degrees and executive education projects, SIT will develop the human capital of executives in the city.

The three parties will also create a Singapore (Chongqing) young talent station and vigorously encourage young talent from SIT to participate in internships, practical training, and innovation exchanges in Chongqing,
