Chongqing- The 16th annual meeting of the Chongqing Mayor’s International Economic Advisory Council (CMIA) is scheduled for September 23-25, according to a press conference on Thursday.
Xu Xincheng, deputy director of the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce detailed key features and topics set for the event.
The CMIA has met annually since 2006 and is now a global think-tank platform for the municipality to attract capital and promote international exchange and cooperation. The 16the edition is themed on Good tales of two cities- building Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle: opportunities and challenges
China is accelerating the construction of a new development pattern of dual circulation. It takes domestic development as the mainstay, with domestic and international development reinforcing each other.
Members of the Chongqing Mayor’s International Economic Advisory Group (CMIA) are the heads of Fortune 500 companies and well-known multinationals, who possess significant advantages in leading technological innovation and docking with high-end resources.
The CMIA will facilitate integration into the new development pattern for the municipality, and boost high-quality development in the open economy.
The 16th CMIA session is themed on Good Tales of Two Cities - Building the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle: Opportunities and Challenges. The three major topics of discussion will focus on creating a modern industrial system, a first-class business environment, and deepened international exchange and cooperation.
In this stage of new development, collective wisdom will be pooled to enhance the level of mutually beneficial cooperation between Chongqing and the international business community.
City leaders will hold annual consultative meetings, themed discussions, project signings, and news releases. Additionally, epidemic prevention and control requirements mean the event will be held in both online and offline formats.
A total of 38 advisory companies from nine countries and regions spread across five time zones will focus on the opportunities and challenges in a new development pattern for the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle.
Advice and suggestions will be shared in various fields such as intelligent manufacturing, information technology, finance, insurance, commerce, and consulting services, as international wisdom contributes to deepened economic and trade cooperation.
Interactive cooperation will take place through on and offline platforms, a format that started in 2020 due to the pandemic, and implemented a live connection + recording model for the first time.
The 16th annual meeting of the CMIA will adopt an online and offline format in the interests of epidemic prevention and control. There will be offline face-to-face communication in tandem with screen-to-screen, as high-end think tanks maintain a high level of enthusiasm for cooperation.
Publicity has been strengthened, as the CMIA will be promoted widely through comprehensive methods such as online government affairs platforms using graphics and live text broadcasts.
Following the meeting, the CMIA secretariat will announce the results achieved in the annual meeting and share themed dissertations, with the aim of promoting high-quality development in the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle.
