Chongqing- September 3 and 4 marked registration days for incoming first-year students at Chongqing University. 5,330 new undergraduates registered and moved in, beginning an exciting new chapter of their life at Chongqing University.

The university has carried out a series of epidemic prevention and control measures to safeguard the health and safety of students. Under the guidance of University staff, the newcomers entered the campus after having body temperature taken and showing the green personal health code and itinerary code. Students who have traveled outside of Chongqing within the past 14 days were required to take a nucleic acid test on campus and can only go back to class if the test result is negative.

Upon arrival, students were required to abide by the University’s epidemic prevention and control measures, and the regulations on entering and leaving the campus. Students should “avoid leaving the campus unless necessary”, “avoid gathering unless necessary”, “avoid leaving Chongqing unless necessary”, and take all the necessary precautions to stay healthy.

The Undergraduate School of Chongqing University welcomed 5,330 first-year students from all over the country this semester. These first-year students will study and live together in the Undergraduate School and be subject to the management by the full-time counselors and part-time counselors in related programs. After completing a year of general education in the Undergraduate School, the students will be sorted into specific schools. The establishment of the Undergraduate School is an important reform to Chongqing University’s undergraduate talents cultivation system to promote the "Double First-Class" initiative and innovate the cultivation of first-class talents.

In 2021, the Undergraduate School of Chongqing University comprehensively promotes enrollment, cultivation, and management based on general education. "The number of first-year students at the Undergraduate School accounts for 83% of the university's all new students. Students majoring in architecture, foreign languages, liberal arts, UC, arts and physical education, and other majors are enrolled through their specific major, while the remaining students are sorted into six classes according to their desired programs. These experimental classes include the Science Experimental Class (Mathematics and Physics), Engineering Experimental Class (Environmental Chemical Engineering and Health Sciences), Engineering Experimental Class (Engineering and Energy), Engineering Experimental Class (Electrical Engineering and Information Science), Engineering Experimental Class (Management and Economics), and Humanities and Social Sciences Experimental Class (Law and Journalism)," said Li Zhengliang, Dean of the Undergraduate School and director of the Academic Affairs Office at Chongqing University.
