Chongqing University received the "The Red Dot: Best of the Best" trophy for the innovative design titled the Magnetic Fluid Demonstration Device on Aug. 30, 2021.

Chongqing University's "Best of the Best" Red Dot Award-winning work, titled Magnetic Fluid Demonstration Device, was developed by a design team founded by associate professor Xia Jinjun and Fan Zhengyan from the School of Arts and associate professor Xie Lei at the College of Optoelectronic Engineering. "The design integrates art and science, using technologies such as magnetic fluid nanometer materials, artificial intelligence, facial expression recognition, voice processing, precise magnetic field control, and electronic technology," said Xia Jinjun, a team leader of the design. Xia added that it could realize the real-time stimulation and interactive demonstration of voice, facial expression, and music, largely enhancing users' experience and engagement.

The Red Dot Design Award is globally recognized as the greatest award in the world of industrial design and sets the tone for future trends in global industrial design. It enjoys the reputation of "the Oscar in design," with the "Best of the Best" being the highest award. Established by the German Design Council in 1955, the Red Dot Design Award receives more than 10,000 submitted works from over 60 countries every year. Award-winning works have the honor of attending the award ceremony in Germany and being displayed at the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen, Germany.

"The Red Dot: Best of the Best" is another international award in design for the interdisciplinary design team of Chongqing University after the iF Product Design Award in 2021, laying a solid foundation for future discipline development.
