Chongqing- The imports and exports of Chongqing to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the European Union (EU), and the United States (U.S.) have shown overall growth in the first eight months of this year, accounting for 46.5% of the total value of Chongqing's foreign trade, according to the Chongqing Customs.
Specifically, the imports and exports of Chongqing with the ASEAN, the EU, and the U.S. were 80.43 billion yuan, 80.24 billion yuan, and 75.2 billion yuan, respectively, in the first eight months, an increase of 15.2%, 25.1%, and 21% respectively.
Statistics show that the total value of the foreign trade imports and exports of Chongqing was 507.68 billion yuan (approx. 78.52 billion U.S. Dollars) in the first eight months, an increase of 29.4% over the same period last year, which was 5.7% higher than the overall national growth rate during the same period.
The general trade import and export of Chongqing amounted to 173.82 billion yuan in the first eight months, an increase of 51.4%, which was 24.5 percentage points higher than the national general trade import and export growth rate, driving the overall increase of Chongqing's foreign trade by 15 percentage points during the same period.
The imports and exports of Chongqing to other countries and regions were also increasing.
In the same period, Chongqing's imports and exports to Hong Kong and Taiwan were 44.94 billion yuan and 43.76 billion yuan, increasing 1.2 times and 38.9%, respectively.
The imports and exports of Chongqing to South Korea and Japan were 34.96 billion yuan and 22.85 billion yuan, an increase of 7.6% and 37.3%, respectively.
In addition, relevant data shows that the imports and exports of Chongqing to countries along the Belt and Road amounted to 137.45 billion yuan, an increase of 29.2%.
As one of Chongqing's key industries, Chongqing exported 51.859 million laptops in the first eight months, an increase of 32.2%, accounting for 36.3% of the country's total laptop exports during the same period.
In the first eight months, Chongqing's export of laptops ranked first in the country.
