Chongqing– One further asymptomatic carrier of COVID-19 has been reported in the Shapingba District of Chongqing as of 18:00 November 12, according to the Chongqing Municipal Health Commission at a press conference held on the same day.
This makes a total of 6 confirmed cases and five asymptomatic carriers, all of whom are undergoing treatment and medical observation at the Chongqing Infectious Disease Medical Center. Presently, all the patients are in stable condition.
The new asymptomatic carrier is the two-year-old daughter of Shapingba residents- the father surnamed Wei a recently confirmed case, and the mother previously confirmed asymptomatic named Su. The girl was placed in centralized quarantine on November 2 and tested positive for COVID-19 on November 12 following a dual set of testing.
Mass nucleic acid testing has been implemented for 3.799 million residents in related epidemic areas, for whom the results have all proved negative. Experts have identified a clear line of transmission among the affected individuals and have not discovered community infections or signs the epidemic has spread locally. Therefore, the situation is considered as being under control.
Her movement pattern is identical to her mother’s, and so far, all primary and secondary contacts have been placed under strict controls. Eighty-three individuals still under quarantine have tested negative after multiple rounds of nucleic acid testing, while restrictions for a further 107 individuals have been lifted.
Since the mother and daughter were identified as asymptomatic carriers, they have been accompanied by the child’s grandmother, who has been taking precautionary measures and has tested negative for the virus on six occasions to date. Her quarantine period has been reset as of November 12.
Importance has been attached to the notion that while individuals are subject to quarantine, they should not be deprived of loving care. During the girl’s observation period, she has been placed under one on one care from a pediatrician and is staying at the same facility as her mother, to whom regular mobile phone videos are sent to relieve her anxiety over the situation. The girl has also been given milk, nutritious foods such as fresh fruit, and has toys designed to nurture cognitive ability.
Individuals who discover they have yellow health codes should report the situation to their local neighborhood committee and employer as soon as possible. This can be done by completing a form obtained through a community QR code, so that investigation and monitoring can take place.
At the same time, concerned individuals should take personal precautions and take two rounds of nucleic acid testing 24 hours apart at a facility set up expressly for subjects with a yellow health code.
People with yellow health codes should not enter crowded venues such as schools, commercial malls, and supermarkets and have restricted access to public transport. Accommodation providers should strictly apply health code checks and register names for epidemic control purposes.
When they discover cases of abnormality, they should report the situation to the local neighborhood committee and guide the individual with a yellow health code to fill in a report through a community QR code to aid with investigation and health monitoring.
