CQUPT President: Silk Road Scholarship Promotes High Quality Development for BRI Nations

Chongqing- Gao Xinbo is the current president of the Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications and attended the opening ceremony and advanced ICT workshop for the Chongqing Municipal Government Mayor’s Silk Road Scholarship for Foreign Students.

President Gao has been mainly engaged in researching artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer vision, and pattern recognition. He has also published more than 300 high-quality academic papers, in addition to 2 monographs and four-course textbooks.

In advance of the opening ceremony, President Gao accepted an interview with iChongqing, where he introduced the overseas trainees who are taking part in this round of Silk Road Program scholarships, the general purpose, and content behind organizing the advanced workshop, and how the training benefits nations involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.

Chongqing Municipality has been implemented the Mayor’s Foreign Student Silk Road Scholarship since 2017, with the aims of promoting the Belt and Road initiative, strengthening educational ties with BRI countries, building bridges with the people of each nation, and providing intellectual support for policy communication, the interconnection of facilities, trade flow, and financial integration.

The three main themes behind the scholarships are the next generation of information and communication technology, big data analysis and management, postal industry cooperation, and advanced research projects for BRI and Yuxinou nations.
