Chongqing Public Advised to Remain Vigilant Despite Lifting of Medium Risk Areas

By JAMES ALEXANDER|Nov 19,2021

Chongqing- There have been no further reports of confirmed or asymptomatic COVID-19 cases in Chongqing Municipality, while all medium-high risk areas have been re-designated as low, according to the Chongqing Municipal Health Commission on November 17, 2021.

Currently, there are six confirmed cases and five asymptomatic carriers receiving treatment or medical observation at the Chongqing Infectious Disease Medical Center. They were reported as being in stable condition.

Since the recent epidemic broke out in Chongqing, swift action has been taken to trace primary and secondary contacts for quarantine and testing. With an evidence-based approach, particular areas were identified for seal and control measures in accordance with scientific precision. As a result, the recent epidemic in Chongqing has been effectively brought under control.

As of 6 pm on November 17, all three communities in Yubei and Changshou districts subject to epidemic control measures have been re-classified as low-risk areas, meaning there is no medium to high-risk areas in the whole of Chongqing Municipality.

Despite the positive results gained in epidemic control nationwide, the overall situation remains serious and complicated. Residents are advised not to regard low risk as zero risk or treat the lifting of restrictions as the end of prevention measures.

“Everybody is reminded of the need for personal responsibility in epidemic control. They should raise their awareness, implement measures, follow instructions, and cooperate with management authorities,” said Li Pan, the Chongqing Municipal Health Commission deputy director.
