Various online and offline activities have already been held in Chongqing in the past few days, aiming to raise public understanding and participation in the city's wildlife and habitat protection work.

A raptor-themed photography exhibit named "Eagle Flying City" officially kicked off at Guanghuan shopping park on October 31, 2021. This exhibit included 83 photographs of 33 species of raptors in total. Hundreds of thousands of raptors, which migrate through Chongqing in springs and autumns, are the main characters of this exhibition.

Walking into the exhibition hall, a 3 meters high paper phoenix bee eagle caught visitors' eyes. You can imagine a large bee eagle opening its huge wings, flying over Chongqing parallel ridge through this vivid artwork.

In particular, the event brought the idea of wildlife conservation to children. School promotion, poster painting, nature museum tours. All these eye-catching activities motivate children to make a voice for animals as nature's guardians.

Wei Qian, the exhibition planner, introduced the origin of "Eagle Flying City" and the stories behind each display board in detail to children and adults. After then, the children all sat down and learned to make the 3D model of the phoenix bee eagle under the guidance of teachers.

"Our kids are far away from nature in modern society. We call for the young generation to walk into nature, get closer to nature, gain power and give feedback to nature", said Peng Xueping, the Chairman of SEE Chongqing Project Center.

When talking about the biggest challenge in this event, she told iChongqing that since more than 40 organizations participated in this event, it is really hard to integrate the professional concept of wildlife protection into different institutional activities. They tried to provide different organizations with information packages to ensure this event was lively, engaging, and close to life.

Until this weekend,  large LED screens in Chongqing urban area, more than 200 nature reserves, and five bus stations have been put to promote Chongqing Wildlife Conservation Awareness Month, 54 different types of activities were successfully held in November, with more than 2,000 people participating.

Chongqing is on the Way to Help Animals

Chongqing is located in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River and the Three Gorges Reservoir, which belongs to the subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forest vegetation distribution area. It is one of the 34 key biodiversity areas in the world. The appropriate ecological environment attracts a large number of wild animals to cross the border to live here. According to relevant survey data, Chongqing has more than 800 species of wild terrestrial vertebrates in total.

The population of black-leafed monkeys in Jinfo Mountain National Nature Reserve has gradually recovered from less than 80 to more than 150. The number of Chinese autumn sand ducks wintering in Chongqing increased from 35 in 2013 to 61 in 2021.
