The concept of "a city with hundreds of parks" refers to the construction of parks and is closely linked to the urban development and citizens' daily life by the new area, which kicks off the campaign to generate ideas from citizens in main four aspects.

Park construction and decoration, park quality improvement, urban governance, and the name of 22 reservoirs in the region are open for ideas.

Citizens can submit ideas by 5 p.m., December 15 on Chongqing Daily APP, where they can also take a visual tour of parks in the new area and vote for their favorite ones by 5 p.m., December 8.

The organizers, Liangjiang New Area Administrative Committee and Chongqing Daily, will reward the most valuable ideas. The awarded citizens will be invited to a two-day field research expedition with experts and academics during the forum in late December.

Based on the field research and the forum, the campaign will generate ideas and make a list, along with a detailed implementation plan of each concept.

According to Zhang Li, vice-director of the committee, Liangjiang New Area has built 131 parks with different themes, including waste classification, sports, and technology innovation. And more than 70 new parks will be built in three years.

Apart from ecological functions, the new area is trying to empower parks with intelligent elements and culture, turning them into multi-function spaces to fulfill recreational, exercising, and social purposes, Zhang said.
