Chongqing- International participants discussed ways to promote the green development of the local economy at a forum held in southwestern China's Chongqing Municipality on December 6.

The Forum on Low-Carbon Economic Transformation in Chongqing Liangjiang New Area was held successfully, gathering people from all walks of life, including the French embassy and consulate in China, overseas enterprises, research and development institutions, municipal departments, and universities. 

According to the forum, Liangjiang New Area accelerates cooperation with global companies in green development, relying on a high-level open system to create a pioneering zone for green transformation. The delegates at the conference expressed their optimism about the prospects for the low-carbon economic transformation of the new area, including companies as Dassault and Schneider, which have already made layout here. 

Bai Yusong, Consul General of France in Chengdu, addressed that Chongqing's favorable economic development and business environment attract more French companies to invest here. Taking the opportunity of this forum, he hopes that both sides will reach more pragmatic cooperation in wider areas and jointly promote the transition to a global low-carbon economy. 

In the interview, Du Leide, the nuclear energy counselor of the French Embassy in China, said that Liangjiang New Area has a solid industrial foundation. China and France can reach a vast space of cooperation like new energy vehicles or smart city construction, and finally, realize the upgrading of economic transformation. 

Financial support for green development of industry

The green development of the industry is inseparable from financial support. According to data provided by Liangjiang New Area Modern Service Industry Bureau, the balance of green loans in the banking industry in Liangjiang is 111.533 billion yuan, accounting for 32.91% of Chongqing's total, ranking first in the city. 

In addition to the remarkable results of green loans, Liangjiang New Area has also created a number of bright spots in the carbon peak and carbon-neutral work. For example, it was the first to launch the green finance pilot and the first to introduce the green finance work plan at the city level. There are 14 sample flats of green manufacturing system including national-level green factories and green parks, ranking first in Chongqing. 

All-round green and low-carbon transformation 

At present, 41 French companies settled in Chongqing have already achieved rapid development. As the main battlefield of Chongqing's economic development, Liangjiang New Area has gathered well-known companies like Societe Generale, Renault, Carrefour, and Faurecia, which have played an active role in supporting the high-quality development of the region.

Li Guang, Vice President of Chongqing Liangjiang New Area Investment Invitation Group, indicated that Liangjiang is currently striving to build a high-quality development leading area and a high-grade life demonstration area to promote the all-around green and low-carbon transformation of industrial development, urban construction, and governance systems. The holding of this forum will further accelerate the cooperation between the Liangjiang New Area and France in the low-carbon field, encouraging the new area to attract the world's largest companies and gather advanced elements.
