Chongqing- Chongqing, and provinces of Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, and Hunan have joined hands to launch the online themed event named Exploration through a Millennium of Cultural Heritage in the Yangtze River Economic Belt, to promote the wealth of cultural history to a nationwide audience through the production of innovative short videos.
Following a launch ceremony held in the Three Gorges Museum in Chongqing, local media workers were invited on two separate tour routes taking in the cultural delights of Dazu Rock Carvings and the Chongqing Urban Area as well as the more distant counties of Wushan and Fengjie.
iChongqing reporter James Alexander received an invitation to visit the cultural treasures held inside Wushan Museum, including artifacts dating back to the Neolithic Period and a team of modern-day cultural inheritors who are keeping the ancient tradition of Piying(Chinese traditional performance) opera alive.
Fengjie County is home to the Baidi City, which boasts ancient stone inscriptions created by famous poets and officials over the ages in the mountain peak temple and offers spectacular views towards Kuimen. This pass leads into Qutang Gorge.
In this vlog, James also shows you the incredible scenery and cityscapes by night and day, starting from the event launch ceremony in Chongqing Yuzhong District, right up to a local community visit in Fengjie, where locals can now enjoy cultural facilities that will help them maintain the historical traditions behind the City of Poetry.
