A project team specialized in micro-precision 3D printers claimed the top award and won the support of a total worth of RMB 100 million.

Eighteen teams made it to the final and competed in the online roadshow. Some of the teams were led and joined by senior management personnel, prominent scholars, and the Chinese Academy of Science academicians.

Cutting-edge technologies staged in the roadshow. An awarded semi-conductor hi-tech enterprise has developed the new generation of AISMS based on ROPN and achieved a domestic technological breakthrough.

The competition kicked off this June with a ¥500 million funding pool jointly set up by Liangjiang New Area and Green Pine Capital Partners to encourage technological innovation and identify and support potential projects and teams.

The competition set up four categories: high-end smart manufacturing, bio-pharmacy, semi-conductor, artificial intelligence information technology, and new energy and material. These are emerging industries in Liangjiang New Area.

Li Jie, a member of the Chongqing Liangjiang New Area Party Work Committee and vice-director of the Chongqing Liangjiang New Area Administrative Committee, said the final sees numbers of projects with advanced scientific achievements, breakthroughs in key areas, and great potential. The new area is dedicated to providing a favorable environment for entrepreneurs and welcomes all the teams to start businesses and share opportunities.

Nearly 2,000 teams signed up for the competition, over 70% of whom had an overseas background.

Yu Chongsheng runs a start-up, which produced the first hand-held 3D laser scanner in China. He came to Chongqing 8 years ago after graduating from Cambridge University.

“I started my own business to turn technology into productivity, and I stay here for the city attaches great importance to talents,” Yu said.

Li Wei, founder and partner at Green Pine Capital Partners, said that Liangjiang New Area is rich in innovative resources and activities. An increasing number of enterprises have settled here for the full service provided to scientists, entrepreneurs, start-up runners, and investors.
