Chongqing- The 5th session of the 5th Chongqing Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) will be held on January 16, which marks the start of this year's annual two sessions of the city's top political advisory body and legislative body.

Yu Jiping, spokesman and deputy secretary-general of the 5th Chongqing Municipal Committee of the CPPCC, announced during a news conference held on the 13th, that the session will be convened from January 16 to 20, and will last four and a half days. Meanwhile, with a duration of four and a half days, the 5th Session of the 5th Chongqing Municipal People's Congress will open on January 17, where the city's National Economic and Social Development Plan for 2022 will be discussed and approved, according to a press conference on the 13th January.

The 5th session of the 5th Chongqing Municipal Committee of CPPCC will witness discussion under the two themes of “maintaining macroeconomic and social stability” and “expediting the construction of a scientific and technological innovation center with national influence”. So far, 93 documents of speeches and 320 proposals have been received for the 5th session of CPPCC. 39 Hong Kong and Macao members will watch the live broadcast of the opening ceremony of the session via television, the internet, or other channels, due to pandemic prevention and control. They will also participate in the group discussions online.

As for the 5th session of the 5th Chongqing Municipal People's Congress, there are plans involving hearing and reviewing the work report of the Chongqing Municipal People's Government; reviewing and approving the report on the implementation of the Chongqing Municipal National Economic and Social Development Plan for 2021, and the draft plan of National Economic and Social Development for 2022; assessing reports on the 2021 budget performance and the 2022 draft budget, and upgrading the 2022 budget plan.

Furthermore, hearing and deliberating the work report of the Standing Committee of the Municipal People's Congress, the work report of the High People's Court of Chongqing Municipality, and the work report of the People's Procuratorate of Chongqing Municipality will also be involved in the agenda.

An election that relates to selecting the chairman of the relevant special committees of the Fifth Chongqing Municipal People's Congress will be included as well.

The deputies to the Fifth Session of the Fifth Chongqing Municipal People's Congress attending this conference are divided into 39 delegations, including 38 delegations from districts and counties (autonomous counties) and one delegation from troops stationed in  Chongqing.

Attending this conference are the heads of Chongqing Municipal People's Government departments and relevant units at the municipal level, and deputies to the 13th National People's Congress in Chongqing, a total of 64 people.

Closed-loop management will be implemented during the city's two sessions, and various work will be promoted in strict accordance with the requirements of epidemic prevention and control.
