On January 28, the 2022 Chongqing First Disney Colored Lantern Carnival will be held at Chongqing Haichang Caribbean Water Park, Nan'an District. There will be the castle of Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, the rover of Pirates of the Caribbean, the garden of Disney Princesses, and other wonderful elements. This carnival aims to build a cultural and artistic brand well-known in China. The lighting sets for the event are designed by the Zigong International Dinosaur Lantern Festival team, creating a wonderland featuring a wide variety of landscapes and lighting sets.

After opening on January 28, the carnival will witness the Spring Festival, Lantern Festival, and Labor Day celebration, lasting much longer than traditional lantern festivals. Combining traditional handicrafts with modern technologies, the residents can enjoy a lantern-themed visual feast full of interactive and recreational activities.

According to the relevant introduction, there are three experience areas under the theme of pirates of the Caribbean and six areas under the Disney theme at the carnival site. The three experience areas include a treasure cave, a secret room in a shipyard, and a horrible castle while the six areas comprise a cruise ship, an area of special delicacies, an area of Disney derivatives, a starry sky themed market, a cartoon, and animation area and a stage for performances.

The whole site is like a fairyland with lighting sets under the theme of Disney IP, including Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, Frozen, The Lion King, Dumbo, and Finding Nemo. It creates a dreamy atmosphere, in which visitors can appreciate the lighting sets, interact with each other or participate in some recreational activities. Covering an area of about 69.1 hectares, the fairyland contains 62 large theme lighting sets for visitors, who can also enjoy services in such fields as food, living, traveling, tourism, shopping, and entertainment. Besides appreciating lanterns, visitors can go shopping, taste snacks, watch performances and interact with each other in some scenarios in this space, which gathers lots of beloved characters and integrates multiple functions.

After the carnival's success this year, it will be held every year as a highlight of nighttime cultural and tourism activities in Chongqing. It is expected to help the city gather more cultural and tourism elements for its nighttime economy, help Nan'an District build a national-level nighttime cultural and tourism consumption area, and facilitate integrated development of the city's culture and tourism.
