Ambassador of Mexico to China: China and Mexico's Relationship Can Develop Prosperity

By SHIHAN YANGRUI HUYILING WANGWANG, XIAOYANICHONGQING|Feb 19,2022

Chongqing – China, and Mexico established diplomatic relations on February 14, 1972. Fifty years later, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, H.E. Mr. Jesús Seade, Ambassador of Mexico to China, accepted iChongqing’s interview online and reviewed the achievements that we’ve made for the past five decades.

“China has always been a country with a very important position internationally in terms of upholding the multilateral system,” said Mr. Seade. At this point, Mexico and China share the same position, and that’s why the two sides have had many encounters supporting each other.

Both China and Mexico have put together a very impressive series of celebrations of our friendship this year that starts on February 14. Except for the lighting ceremony, Mexico and China will unveil and bring out two sets of wonderful postal stamps with monuments from China and Mexico. Chinese people can use these stamps to send letters to all over China and Mexico or even to all corners of the world. The stamps can let the world know about the profound friendship between China and Mexico.

Referring to Chongqing, Mr. Seade said that there are many connections between Chongqing and Mexico in culture and gastronomy. He is willing to come to Chongqing, a city with a fantastic landscape with mountains, to see the Yangtze River and Three Gorges Dam personally.

On the economic side, Mexican companies have already entered the Chongqing market. He particularly mentioned Nemak,  a major company from Mexico which mainly produces aluminum automotive components, now has become a big producer of car components in China. Based in Chongqing, it is regarded as an important contributor to the very energetic Chinese car industry.
