As Chongqing Symphony Orchestra 2022 Concert Season has been launched, five theme concerts will be staged in succession in the first half of this year, including "The Symphony Suite of Chongqing of Ye Xiaogang" and "Symphony No. 4 of Gustav Mahler".

Founded in 2007, Chongqing Symphony Orchestra features integrated operation with Chongqing Opera House and serves as the backbone of Chongqing's elegant art. The orchestra has created such symphonic works as The Symphony Suite of Chongqing, The Yangtze River, and The Impression of Three Gorges.

This concert season consists of five theme concerts, involving Symphony No. 4 and Scheherazade, classic symphonic works of Gustav Mahler and Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, respectively, as well as performances with regional characteristics like The Symphony Suite of Chongqing of Ye Xiaogang and "Azalea, Concert of Fu Gengchen's Works." Besides, "A Chant of Hope — Concert of Opera Fragments" will be performed by excellent young actors and actresses of Chongqing Opera House. The performance comprises lots of fragments of domestic and foreign classic opera works.

Liu Guangyu, President of Chongqing Opera House and Chongqing Symphony Orchestra, introduced that music is a language that everyone can understand and that symphonies, with no lyrics and unrestricted artistic forms, express the emotions that all humans share. The symphony, a high-level cultural art form around the world, has formed a grand circle of countless works created by artists from various countries in the past years. Chongqing Symphony Orchestra has also presented many works since its establishment, but it is far from enough compared to the above-mentioned "grand circle." Therefore, the orchestra decided to create some wonderful symphonic works this year, of which every work is grand enough to brighten the concert up.

"The symphony, like The Internationale of the world, could help China to be better understood by the world. We are going to develop symphonies in all parts of the land of Bayu as it is essential for Chongqing to build a culturally strong city with greater cultural soft power," said Liu Guangyu, "This concert season will show the comprehensive performance of Chongqing Opera House in the artistic level. We will learn the advanced experience of others and march forward bravely with open arms. On the other hand, we will display our cultural confidence to the world. I believe performances will enlighten all visitors during the concert season."
