Chongqing- The 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics has made a great impression on the world following the event's conclusion. However, the success was not only limited to winter sports. The word "绿色," which means green in Chinese, is also a term that embodied this high-profile event on the international sporting calendar.

Beijing made carbon-neutrality a key component in its bid for the 2022 Winter Olympics and made good on those promises through transformation and new technology applied to venues, energy, and transportation.

Six venues featured in the 2008 Olympic Games were transformed for the Beijing Winter Olympics and used carbon dioxide refrigeration to achieve 30 percent savings on energy in the production of ice.

Transportation at the games mostly used clean energy through hydrogen-fueled and electrically powered vehicles. Now the Games are over, the infrastructure for renewable power is set to remain in use, laying solid foundations for a sustainable low-carbon future.

Today's buzzword phrase!

Green

For a carbon-neutral event, fleets of hydrogen and electrically powered vehicles were successfully deployed at the Beijing Winter Olympics.
