Chongqing - The hotel industry in Chongqing is nurturing a new consumer habit where hotels become a stylish destination with multipurpose according to Zhou, General Manager of Hilton Chongqing Liang Jiang New Area.

In first-tier cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen, 5-star hotels have already become a popular destination rather than simply a place for travelers to sleep, “that is where Chongqing’s hotel industry is heading”, Zhou told iChongqing the latest interview.

“We are trying to deliver the message that customers don’t have to come here for business or with a specific purpose, ” Zhou said. With the cost-effective products and services provided and unique facilities installed, the hotel enables customers to enjoy an international-standardized hotel experience at their doorstep.

The hotel is making efforts in various leisure sectors instead of merely accommodation products. Taking the dining sector as an example, Zhou said, the hotel offers extensive choices of international cuisines, and the rooftop bar has become a trendy place for young people to gather.

The hotel has achieved positive results in terms of financial numbers, customer feedback, and social responsibility since its opening in December 2020, Zhou said. He also has confidence in the hotel’s future especially when Chongqing is turning into an international consumption center.

Zhou mentioned Cuntan specifically. As part of Chongqing’s master plan, Cuntan in Liangjiang New Area will be built into an international new town, which integrates a cruise homeport, a bonded economic area, and an area for shopping and consumption.

“The homeport will bring many visitors home and abroad, and our hotel will be a good destination linked to the port. Visitors can stay with us for a few days and enjoy the beautiful scenery of Chongqing before getting on board for the joy brought by a cruise tour”, Zhou said.
