Chongqing- Last year, Chongqing, a city with over 30 million people, was approved by China’s State Council to develop an international consumption center city, along with Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Tianjin.
As the only city in central and western China listed on this development strategy, Chongqing’s total retail sales increased by 18.5% year on year, ranking third among all provincial regions in the country.
In 2020, the Globalization and World Cities Study Group and Network ranked Chongqing as one of the Beta level cities worldwide, referring to cities that could link moderate economic regions to the world economy. Data shows that this city has a strong consumption potential to drive economic development and play an important role in the world’s stage, but how can we build the city greater as an international metropolis?
