By Eiko Cheng|Mar 05,2022

Chongqing- Last year, Chongqing, a city with over 30 million people, was approved by China's State Council to develop an international consumption center city, along with Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Tianjin.

As the only city in central and western China listed on this development strategy, Chongqing's total retail sales increased by 18.5% year on year, ranking third among all provincial regions in the country.

In 2020, the Globalization and World Cities Study Group and Network ranked Chongqing as one of the Beta level cities worldwide, referring to cities that could link moderate economic regions to the world economy. Data shows that this city has a strong consumption potential to drive economic development and play an important role in the world's stage, but how can we build the city greater as an international metropolis?

On February 28, iChongqing reporter Eiko invited Marco Bonaglia, who's located in Milan, to connect on YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook, live-streamed together, talked about how Chongqing strives to promote tourism as significantly facilitate and drive consumption. Eiko was on a cruise ship of the Yangtze River and the Jialing River, presenting the audience the magnificent night view of the city, which is one of the significant parts of Chongqing's night-economy development, while Marco was walking on the Milan city street, introducing these glamorous landmarks of Milan to the audience.
