Chongqing- On March 2, the launching ceremony of the international freight train of the China-Laos Railway (Jiangjin-Vientiane) was held at the Jiangjin Luohuang Railway Comprehensive Logistics Hub. This train will arrive in Vientiane, the capital of Laos, in five days, which is about five days shorter than the past road transportation. 

It is the first international freight train from Jiangjin District to Vientiane, Laos, by the China-Laos Railway. It carries a total of 37 containers with a cargo value of about 4 million yuan, including chemicals, construction materials, general machinery, daily necessities, etc. 

Why chose Jiangjin to be another destination of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor (ILSTC) China-Laos Railway? It is mainly due to the unique location advantages of Jiangjin Luohuang Port Industry City with its three-dimensional transportation hub and solid industrial foundation, said the relevant person of Jiangjin District. 

The opening of this fast line plus the implementation of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) gave Chongqing enterprises more confidence to explore the Southeast Asian markets to enhance their brands' international competitiveness, he added. 

In the past, products exported from Chongqing to Vientiane could only be transported by road routinely taking about ten days. Now, thanks to the China-Laos Railway, the entire transportation time departed from Chongqing has been shortened to about five days. 

Undoubtedly, the China-Laos Railway grants convenience to China and Indochina peninsula countries, including Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, and others. 

Jiangjin Luohuang Port Industry City expected that this year the number of ILSTC Jiangjin trains will exceed 500. It strives to promote the arrival and delivery of Jiangjin trains to account for more than 50% of the city's southbound trains, with the total value exceeding 50 billion yuan for the coming three years. 

Actually, launching comprehensive trials for further opening up the service sector is a strategic move made by China for a new open economy system. 

In the investment facilitation and logistics customs clearance, apart from the international direct trains running between Jiangjin and Vientiane, Chongqing will carry out the import-export test of express delivery via China Railway Express (CR Express), and catalyze the construction of the Domestic Collection and Distribution Center of CR Express for Mail and Express. 

Similarly, Chongqing will establish a container sharing and allocation system of the ILSTC, and build a regional logistics collection and distribution center for high-speed railways.
