Chongqing- Chongqing Liangjiang New Area issued ten measures to support women in the science and technology industry on March 3rd at the event welcoming International Women's Day.

The measures cover five main aspects: enhancing the evaluation and incentives mechanism, establishing platforms to support female entrepreneurs, carrying out regular recognition for outstanding females, developing a caring working environment, and encouraging female students to pursue science and technology.

They also attached importance to women's participation in social affairs and economic development.

According to the measures, exchange and communication mechanisms will be set up to cover regular sessions of the salon, conference, and featured seminar; female talents will receive support to participate in international conferences and academic programs abroad, as well as major topics such as the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle, the Belt and Road Initiative and the Yangtze River Economic Belt.

The measures aim to provide systematic solutions to address difficulties females face and better encourage them to pursue science and technology, said Liu Lingyun, chairwoman of Liangjiang New Area Women's Federation, which initiated the measures.

At the event, seven women-led teams and two female model workers received municipal-level honor. Ten female workers with excellent performance in Liangjiang New Area were also awarded.

Song Wen, the vice president of Chongqing Qiteng Technology, told the press that the measures issued would attract more talents to settle in Liangjiang New Area and especially female talents in Chongqing.

"Female workers need to balance family and career. The measures cover the establishment of a fertility-friendly working environment and a series of female-caring plans, which I believe will help female workers relieve worries and improve our scientific research environment", Song said.
