Chinese Ministry of Education recently granted Chongqing University(CQU) approval to register four undergraduate majors, including Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering, Intelligent Mining Engineering, Science and Engineering of Carbon Storage, and Clinical Medicine.

Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering and Intelligent Mining Engineering are based on existing national First Class majors at CQU, including Mechanical Manufacturing and Automation and Mining Engineering. CQU seeks to take advantage of its achievements in new engineering programs, transform and upgrade the traditional majors and strengthen its leading position in the area. 

Science and Engineering of Carbon Storage is not included in the Catalog of Undergraduate Majors of Higher Education issued by the Ministry of Education. CQU took the lead in establishing the major in coordination with the China University of Geosciences, China University of Petroleum, and China University of Mining and Technology, which align with China's "dual carbon" goals of achieving peaking carbon emissions and carbon neutrality. Chongqing University strives to pioneer in cultivating innovative talents to meet the national demand for green and low-carbon development.

The establishment of Clinical Medicine means that Chongqing University aims to nurture undergraduate medical talents. Since its establishment in 1929, CQU has been committed to building itself into a world-class comprehensive, research-oriented university. Currently, the University has one affiliated central hospital and five directly affiliated hospitals, including Chongqing University Cancer Hospital, Chongqing University Three Gorges Hospital, Chongqing University Fuling Hospital, Jiangjin Central Hospital, and Chongqing University Qianjiang Hospital. The approval for registering Clinical Medicine realizes CQU's medical dream and contributes to building a Healthy China.

For the future, Chongqing University will evaluate all the majors, further improve the systems and mechanisms on the management of majors, and continuously enhance the ability and quality of talent cultivation.
