At the (online) Asian Preliminary of FISM World Championships of Magic that ended on March 10, Li Hao, a chief magician of Chongqing Acrobatic Art Troupe, made it to the final of the 28th FISM World Championships of Magic in a field of 66 competitors from Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and other countries and regions. He is the only contestant from the Chinese mainland to be shortlisted for the Close-up Act final this year.

His show "The Fairy Beans" is the only program winning the gold prize of the 11th Golden Chrysanthemum Award to be selected into this year's Asian Preliminary (Close-up Act) of World Championships of Magic.

It is also the first show developed from the traditional Chinese magic "Fairy Picking Beans" in the world's top magic competition. The show, created by Chongqing Acrobatic Art Troupe, tells the story of China to the world with magic.

The World Championships of Magic is organized by the International Federation of Magic Societies, or FISM, every three years. Founded in Lausanne, Switzerland, in 1948, FISM has 64 member societies from 34 countries. The World Championships of Magic is known as the "Olympics of Magic" because of the large number of programs, large variety of contests, and the high level of competition, making it the most prestigious competition in the circle of magicians. In the past, top-notch talent like Hans Klok, Peter Marvey, and the master of David Copperfield have all competed.

The 28th World Championships of Magic final will be held in Quebec, Canada, from July 25 to 30, 2022. Witnessed by more than 3,000 magicians from over 50 countries, Li Hao will compete with 150 contestants worldwide for the championship title.

As the chief magician of Chongqing Acrobatic Art Troupe and Chongqing International Circus City, Li Hao has won the Golden Chrysanthemum Award, the highest honor for an acrobatic act in China. He is adept at Chinese magic and ancient tricks. His show "The Fairy Beans" won the National Magic and Comedy Contest gold prize of the 11th Golden Chrysanthemum Award of China Acrobatics. The show not only inherits and develops the unique artistic style of traditional Chinese magic "Fairy Picking Beans", but also draws on the techniques of Western magic tricks.

According to Chen Tao, director of Chongqing Acrobatic Art Troupe, the Chongqing Acrobatic Art Troupe would continue cultivating talent and creating excellent programs, gathering more experience, and winning more awards in national and international competitions, thus adding luster to Chongqing's culture and art.
