Chongqing- The most concentrated swathes of plum blossom in the Three Gorges basin have opened in a blaze of spring color in Wushan County, covering an area of more than 49,000 acres. This has now been combined with a spectacular evening show called "Light of the Three Gorges," currently viewable from nighttime river cruises departing from Wushan docks.

Visitors alike may now experience the delights of plum blossoms during the daytime and then admire rich displays of Wushan culture going back millennia by night, all as part of a recommended travel route for the next month.

"Light of the Three Gorges" is themed on Wushan, Three Gorges and Yangtze culture displayed using modern-day technology, including projections from onshore features such as the city architecture and a karst cliff face inside the Lesser Three Gorges beyond Longmen Bridge.

Traditional live performances aboard re-enact famous historical scenes in coordination with the light show outside so tourists can enjoy the cultural history of Wushan in an endless variety of entertaining styles.

Inside the Lesser Gorges, a light show is projected onto the cliff face, while a vivid narration tells the history and legends of Wushan while also presenting the local sights and impressive achievements in poverty alleviation.

Among the best-known legends of Wushan is the Fairy Goddess, who forever transformed herself into a mountain to save her beloved's hometown from a devastating flood. Meanwhile, the inspiring determination of villagers from Zhuxian in Wushan County, who chiseled out the 'Sky Road' over seven arduous years to connect their village to the outside world and bring prosperity, also features prominently in the light show.

For those who can personally experience this travel, the "Three Gorges Dream" cruise boat opens for boarding at 19:45 daily and leaves on a 12-kilometer route over 70 minutes following a traditional boat tracker performance.
