The construction of Zhengzhou-Wanzhou High-speed Rail will give a new look to the Three Gorges tour: "sail through the Gorges in a day" is now replaced with the "travel across provinces by rail in a day."

"The Fengjie section of Zhengzhou-Wanzhou High-speed Rail in southwestern China is expected to open to traffic by the end of this year, with eight trains departing each day, " said Pan Wanshan, Director of the Commission of Culture and Tourism Development of Fengjie County, Chongqing. "It only takes about 5 hours from China's capital of Beijing to Fengjie and about three and a half hours from Zhengzhou in central China to Fengjie. More tourists from the Central Plains will visit the Three Gorges." 

Fengjie is making an overall plan to launch direct buses from the high-speed railway station to major scenic spots across the county to achieve "zero transfer" between high-speed rails and buses.

"It is the Three Gorges of Chongqing, but also the Three Gorges of China and the Three Gorges of the world. Fengjie is the starting point of the Three Gorges tour. It is important for tourists to slow down and feel the poetic air during the journey." Pan Wanshan added, "It is now the final stage for Baidicheng · Qutang Gorge to be rated as an AAAAA tourist attraction, the top level of its kind in China."

In recent years, Fengjie has been vigorously promoting the "Three Gorges brand + ecology + culture" model to realize the high-quality development of culture and tourism in the Three Gorges region and enrich the types of operation to retain tourists.

The integrated development of tourism in Sichuan and Chongqing is accelerating now. Pan Wanshan revealed that the cooperation in tourism has been advanced by areas along the Zhengzhou-Wanzhou High-speed Rail line. Fengjie has also initiated the establishment of the Chengdu-Chongqing Culture and Tourism Alliance and is driving forward the integrated marketing of the Three Gorges to achieve product advertising and high accessibility of scenic spots for visitors among the said areas.

"It takes half an hour from Wushan Airport to Baidicheng. A cruise is sent every day from Shanghai to Chongqing and in the opposite direction, and from Fengjie to Yichang and in the opposite direction." Pan Wanshan said that with the support of Zhengzhou-Wanzhou High-speed Rail, a "water, land and air" tourist pattern is taking shape in Fengjie.
