Chongqing-Wushan County recently held an opening ceremony for the 4th Plum Blossom Festival, and has unveiled a night cruise to experience a new light show called "Light of the Three Gorges". The six-hour drive from Chongqing urban area might be quite far, but the amazing scenery makes the trip worth every second!

This boutique travel route has been created as part of a phenomenon known as "rural tourism". Specifically, rural tourism involves combining the elements of natural scenery, farm orchards, rural culture, and specialty resources like guesthouses, to attract city dwellers into the countryside to experience the delights of pastoral life.

Wushan is by no means the only county to have developed rural tourism. For the spring of 2022, Chongqing Municipality has released 81 boutique travel routes for rural tourism and leisure. Be sure not to miss out!
