Chongqing-  Despite the influence of Covid-19, Chongqing's 25 major municipal projects in the electronic information industry have attracted an investment of 4 billion yuan (about 0.6 billion U.S. dollars) in the first quarter of this year, according to Chongqing Development and Reform Commission, on April 14. 

Electronic information is one of the main industries in Chongqing, which plays an important supporting role in the steady growth of the city's economic development.

Experts believe that the major municipal projects in the electronic information industry have shown a momentum of rapid development, which will better drive the high-quality development of the city's manufacturing industry.

Citywide situation

All the districts and counties of Chongqing have made great efforts to facilitate the electronic information industry, and the Liangjiang New Area as a national pioneer for opening up is a good example. 

The four major city-level electronic information industry projects implemented this year completed the cumulative investment of 2.14 billion yuan, and the investment progress reached 33.1%. Among them, the 6th generation AMOLED (flexible) production line project of Liangjiang BOE has achieved mass production and delivery. The follow-up equipment procurement and installation are being promoted too.

Besides, Liangjiang BOE Smart System Innovation Center is accelerating the construction of the main structure, Liangjiang AT&S Semiconductor Package Carrier Board and System Level Packaging Printed Circuit Board upgrade project is carrying out equipment procurement and installation, and Liangjiang Corning's front-end furnace project is undergoing interior decoration and equipment installation construction.

For another example, Banan District provides full-process precision services to assist the Banan Huike display module project, a major municipal project that officially started construction in March this year, to complete the planning land permit and other procedures before October last year.

Due to the solid work in the early stage, the Banan Huike display module project completed an investment of 90 million yuan in the month when the project started. According to the construction plan, the project will complete the main capping construction by the end of this year and be put into operation in April 2023. When reaching the demanded production, the annual output value will exceed 5 billion yuan, and the annual tax revenue will not be less than 140 million yuan. At the same time, the project will gather an innovation team with more than 100 R&D talents to solve the employment of 1,000 people.

A competent official of the commission said that in the next step, they would strengthen the coordination to accelerate the implementation plan for the development of the electronic information industry in the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle to further promote the industry's quality and effect.
