Located in Huatian Township, Youyang Tujia, and Miao Autonomous County, Chongqing, Hejiayan Village, at an average altitude of 700 meters, is 41 kilometers away from Youyang Town.

The residential area comprises ancient stilt houses of the Tujia ethnic group. Most were built in the Ming and Qing dynasties.

In the Hejiayan Village, there are karst caves, steep cliffs, stone forests, grassland, alpine forests and lakes, and other peculiar landscape.

In ancient times, high-quality rice grown in local fertile farmland was served as a tribute to the imperial palace, and the village became a retreat away from the world. However, the lack of renovation and water storage for terraces deteriorated a considerable area of farmland over time, which pushed the quality rice close to the brink of extinction.

Chongqing Charity Federation launches a project on the theme of “rural revitalization to protect landscape in Hejiayan Village” and plans to rely on the rural reconstruction of terraces and perimeter areas in order to develop the village into a business card of wonderful landscape, drive the development of rural industrial economy and further promote rural revitalization.

The project focuses on ecological revitalization and aims to make arrangements for production, life, and eco-space in Huatian Township and step up the formation of a green development model and lifestyle.

Meanwhile, a civilized development path of advanced production, better-off life, and harmonious ecology will be followed so as to build Huatian Township into a beautiful village for life, business, and tourism, a new highland of green and innovative development, and a model of an ecosystem.

The project serves as an important part of the “Rural Revitalization·Chongqing Session” hosted by Chongqing Charity Federation under the guidance of Chongqing Civil Affairs Bureau and Chongqing Rural Revitalization Bureau, with special support from Tencent Charity and Tencent Southwest Headquarters.

The activity will be held from April 27 to April 29, 2022, focusing on assistance in industrial development, elderly care, care for children, education, talents cultivation, and aid for the needy and the poor.
