Chongqing- In this episode,  "The Road To Chongqing", I share my experience of the Huang'ge Ancient Trail, which began in the Tang Dynasty. We take a walk down this historic road to see how it's changed.

The vast mountains in Southwest China were always barriers isolating this region. At that time, the only way of transporting goods was through porters and caravans. The ancient merchants pulled their goods from the docks of the Yangtze River, they would take a short rest here when they passed by. For their convenience, a relay station was set up here. The Huang'ge Ancient Trail is a logistics channel. The primary commodities are living essentials such as tea and medical herb from Yunnan and Guizhou provinces, silk, Shu embroidery, bronze ware, and porcelain from Sichuan and Chongqing.

Nowadays, the Huang'ge Ancient Trail has become one of the Mountain Forest Trails of Chongqing. The porters and caravans have disappeared into history, and this trail is now welcoming local tourists and will open up to the international market.
