Providing more leisure sites for residents

Since the temperature is gradually warming, residents have visited the mountain sports park near Wannian Road in Liangjiang New Area for leisure such as sunbathing, flying kites, and taking a walk. Moreover, the park attracts many young people for mountain cycling, skateboarding, or other sports on weekends.

"It is hard to believe that it was a bare slope with the largest altitude difference of about 70 meters," said a chief officer from the Urban Management Bureau of Liangjiang New Area, "We have greened and landscaped retaining walls and slopes to provide more leisure sites for residents."

Last year, the park enhanced improvements in slopes, retaining walls, and cliffs by designing corridor landscapes embellished with peach blossoms, plum blossoms, magnolia flowers, and other flowers along the mountain based on the slope space. At the awarding ceremony of the 2021 Discovery of the Beauty of Chongqing, the Liangjiang New Area mountain sports park was selected as one of the 2021 Most Beautiful Slopes, Retaining Walls, and Cliffs in Chongqing.

Overlooking the running Jialing River, the cliff trail along the wall site connecting Hongyadong and Kuixing Building at Linjiangmen in Yuzhong District is greeting many residents. The cliff trail of Daijia Lane hidden in the bustling city is also on the list of the 2021 Most Beautiful Slopes, Retaining Walls, and Cliffs in Chongqing.

“The trail is located along a typical cliff, resulting in the large altitude difference and gradient," said a chief officer from the Urban Management Bureau of Yuzhong District, adding that the poor-growing plants were almost covered by weeds.

In 2021, through integrated environment improvement, Yuzhong District greened and landscaped the cliff trail of Daijia Lane and created an internet-famous tourist attraction featuring flowers like great bougainvillea. In addition, a large number of well-designed landscapes were set up to decorate the major nodes. For example, stones and rubble have been used to design the dry stream landscape. Cobblestones and flowers have been used to landscape walls.

With the advancement of this work, the central urban area has been made greener. As of the end of 2021, Chongqing completed 1,348 projects concerning the greening and landscaping of slopes, retaining walls, and cliffs for 29.9 million square meters. Among them, the central urban area completed 309 projects covering an area of 14.1 million square meters, and other counties finished 1,039 projects with an area of 15.8 million square meters.
