China-Mexico University Cultural Exchange Conference Wraps up in Chongqing

Chongqing -  2022 marks the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between China and Mexico. On May 16, China-Mexico University Cultural Exchange Conference took place at Sichuan International Studies University (SISU). The conference was co-hosted by Zhu Chaowei, Vice President of Sichuan International Studies University, and Julio Cruz from the Chongqing Office of the Mexican Chamber of Commerce in China. The Mexican Ambassador to China, Jesús Seade Kuri, Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal People's Government, Zhou Yi, Deputy President of Mexican Chamber of Commerce in China, Victor Cadena, and Vice-President of Mexican Anahuac University, Eli Marin attended this conference.

The Mexican Ambassador to China, Jesús Seade Kuri, spoke highly of the cultural exchanges between China-Mexico Universities during the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between China and Mexico. He retrospected the history of communication and exchange between Chongqing and Mexico and gave thumbs up to the rapid development of Chongqing and Mexico. The participation of local governments and universities is indispensable in cultural and educational exchanges between China and Mexico. He hoped both sides could explore more diversified cooperative and communicative ways based on existing cooperation, deepen people-to-people exchange, and link people from the two countries closer.

Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal People's Government, Zhou Yi, said that as the only municipality in western China, Chongqing is willing to promote cooperation and communication further with Mexico in terms of economy, trades, culture, education and so forth at local government level. Young people are the hope of China and Mexico, and strengthening cultural communication will be significant to pushing cooperation in education and consolidating friendship between the two countries.

At the conference, the Mexican side says that universities and business sectors in Mexico have always posed importance to the close partnership with China. The growing cooperation in economy and trade and people-to-people exchanges during the covid19 demonstrated that Mexico's business and education sectors had kept high confidence in enhancing collaboration. It hopes more efforts will be made to expand bilateral trade, deepen scholarly communication, and facilitate people-to-people exchanges.

China-Mexico University Cultural Exchange Conference strongly signifies the friendship between China and Mexico. According to the introduction of Zhu Chaowei, Vice President of Sichuan International Studies University, as the only foreign language university in southwest China, Sichuan International Studies University will take advantage of its unique strength in languages, international studies, and intercultural communication to bolster comprehensive cooperation with Mexican universities and the chamber of commerce.

Meanwhile, faculty and student representatives from both Mexican Anahuac University and Sichuan International Studies University introduced their own culture and history of their countries, cities, and universities, respectively, which built up mutual trust between the two universities and inspired their enthusiasm for further exchanges.
