As a flagship project of the Belt and Road Initiative, the China-Laos Railway links Southwest China’s Kunming city in Yunnan Province with the Lao capital Vientiane. The railway has become a convenient logistics channel between China and the ASEAN countries, promoting the economic and social development of both sides.

Located in the middle part of Southwest China's Yunnan Province, Yuxi is a crucial transport center, and home to the province's tobacco, vegetables, fruits, and flowers production. Yuxi city has a 145-km-long section of the 1,035-kilometer China-Laos Railway, with five stations crossing the city's downtown, Yuxi, Eshan, Yanhe, Huanian, and Yuanjiang. As the China-Laos Railway starts operation, Yuxi will expand its logistics services along with 0ther industries from the Yanhe and the South freight train stations.
