Over the past ten years, China's ecological and environmental conservation endeavors have reaped notable progress. China has taken a series of significant policy measures to protect the ecosystem, including the environmental protection "red line," the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, as well as the systemic conservation, restoration, and protection of mountains, rivers, forests, farmland, lakes, grass and sand across the country. The past decade has also seen an improved legal system for ecosystem conservation in the country. Issuances or revisions of over 30 laws and regulations during the period represent China's concrete steps toward forging a stronger legal guarantee for the ecosystem. China has made great efforts to build cities where man and nature coexist in harmony.
Take Chongqing, for example, this is a mountainous city located along the Yangtze River and has accelerated the construction of urban greenways in the city since 2019. Nowadays, the greenways covering over 300 kilometers have become great places for citizens to relax, exercise, and enjoy cityscapes. And Chongqing's Guangyang Isle, the largest island on the upper Yangtze River, is rich in natural resources. In recent years, a series of measures have been taken to restore the natural ecological environment of the island. Now, the island attracts a large number of tourists every day.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment, also known as the Stockholm Conference, in which the Action Plan for the Human Environment was adopted. This conference is of landmark significance for the world's environmental progress and progress in China.
