Chongqing- Chongqing 1949 Grand Theater won the Best Scientific and Technological Progress Award, according to the recently-revealed list of the 11th China Tourism Investment ITIA Award.

The ITIA award, founded in 2011, is the highest honor in China's tourism investment industry. The award aims to evaluate the investment level and effect of various cultural tourism investment projects. It is also an important platform for displaying various cultural tourism investment projects in China. As an iconic annual event in the field of China's tourism investment, a total of 130 tourism projects stood out and won the nomination award in this ITIA Award.

Chongqing 1949 Grand Theater was constructed especially for the play Chongqing · 1949, and all stage sets and equipment were introduced for the show. Located in Ciqikou Ancient Town, the theater is a non-standard theater designed and built according to the needs of the play. The stage and auditorium of the theater are divided into gears with five rings, which can be rotated 360 degrees. The actors appear on the stage like a picture scroll, and they are zoomed in and out like a movie camera, bringing the audience a unique visual experience. The auditorium and the stage are integrated to create an immersive theater so that spaces of audiences and performers are intersected with each other. Each ring machine of the theater rotates synchronously so that audiences can enjoy different visual experiences around the auditorium.

In addition, the theater also concentrates on many technological elements. For example, there is a lighting stage installation consisting of 160 motors hanging from the top and more than 20 light cars rotating and lifting in the air for the lighting effects of the stage. There are also various real-life sets on devices with five rotating rings, such as the Ciqikou, ships, etc. The lowest set is 16 meters while the highest is more than 20 meters, and the lightest one is more than 20 tons. All sets have to rotate at a speed of 1.2 meters per second on the five rings without any scratches. The theater staff members are trying to integrate technology into the main theme of the theatrical production, hoping to dedicate the artwork Chongqing · 1949 to this city at the Chongqing 1949 Grand Theater.
