By GAOWEI ZHANGALEX REPORTERFYXUANQI YUAN|Jul 01,2022

Chongqing- The Yintiaoling National Nature Reserve is located in the northeast of Chongqing's Wuxi County, with an average elevation of 1,900 meters. The peak, 2796.8 meters high, ranks the highest in Chongqing's mountains, which forms the roof of the Three Gorges Area together with Shennongjia.

The Yintiaoling National Nature Reserve has retained the original natural environment and enjoys the reputation as the green lungs of Chongqing. As one of the few primitive forests in Chongqing, it boasts abundant wild animals, plants, and other rare and endangered species, making it a "gene pool for natural species." More than 300 infrared cameras have been installed in the wild in the Reserve since 2015 to find out the distribution of the rare wildlife.

This national nature reserve is home to over 1,500 plants and animals, with many rare and endangered species. It also has 15 Grade-I wild plants under the state protection, such as ginkgo, gong tong tree, wintersweet, Sichuan thuja), Chinese yew, etc., over 300 key wild animals under national protection, including golden eagle (Aquila chrysaetos), white bear, white fox, leopard, Ailurus fulgens, etc. There's no doubt that the Reserve has formed a natural gene bank of protected species.

It is also worth mentioning that dozens of rangers are working in Yinitiaoling. Yan Chengwen, 57, has been working as a ranger here since 1981. Walking on the edges and cliffs, he has been taking care of the primeval forest and has been a part of the desertification control and vegetation restoration. For 40 years, he has devoted his youth and enthusiasm to the mountains and forests here and has been guarding the "green" in his heart with his whole life's energy.

As Chongqing continues to strengthen ecosystems' protection and restoration, more wild animals and plants are expected to inhabit, multiply, build nests, and thrive on this land, and a well-preserved natural ecosystem will not only accommodate these lovely creatures but also benefit our human beings.
