By YAN DENG|Jul 02,2022

Chongqing - July 1 this year marks the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland. Chongqing also celebrated its 25th anniversary of becoming a municipality directly under the Central Government on June 18. Zhou Hong, the Regional Director of the Southwest China of Hong Kong Trade Development Council(HKTDC), accepted iChongqing's exclusive interview and pointed out five development directions for two cities.

Zhou Hong opened the office of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council in Chongqing Municipality in 2013. Since then, the office has organized lots of government or business delegates to visit Chongqing and introduce the business potential in Chongqing. In addition, HKTDC's 50 offices worldwide also promote business opportunities in Chongqing to a global audience.

"The 25th anniversary is a critical milestone, so I think that cooperation between Chongqing and Hong Kong should pursue some new directions in development," Zhou said.

"In 1997, Chongqing became a municipality directly under the Central Government, and Hong Kong was returned to its motherland. So we have always been perfect brothers and sisters. The 25th anniversary is a critical milestone, so I think that cooperation between Chongqing and Hong Kong should pursue some new directions in development." Zhou said, "Hong Kong is delighted to provide Chongqing with an international platform. We hope our two cities can develop together in the future and mutually complement each other through respective advantages. Let's work together and contribute to the development of our country!"
