Chongqing Opens New Highway Shuttle Route to Germany via ILSTC

By ZHAN CHEN|Jul 05,2022

Chongqing- Expected to reach the Alblas warehouse in Germany in about 16 days, the cross-border highway shuttle of the New International Land-sea Trade Corridor (ILSTC) set off from Southwest China's Chongqing Waterless Port on July 2.

The waterless port refers to the logistics center with port service functions established in the inland area, from customs clearance and inspection to the issuance of bills of lading. Inside the waterless port, supervising agencies provide services for customs clearance, such as customs, animal and plant quarantine, commodity and health inspection, etc.

Ten carloads of goods in this shuttle are all value-added electronic products with an average value of 1.2 million US dollars per carload. It will be shipped from Chongqing to the Jimunai port, Xinjiang, and heading for Germany, marking the ILSTC's first cross-border highway shuttle to Germany.

In addition to rail transport, the road transport mode will enrich the logistics options for customers, said an ILSTC representative. It only takes 15 or 16 days from Chongqing to Germany with a reduced shipping time and flexible delivery features.

This move provides a stable guarantee for the import and export of products to Europe and reflects the high-level joint construction of the ILSTC, said a responsible person. It will promote cross-regional collaboration and upgrade the channel to further play the role of Chongqing as the logistics and operation organization center of the ILSTC.

Located in the northwest of the country at the crossroads of Central Asia and East Asia, Xinjiang aims to create an open highland along the border with their channel, resources, and port advantages, coupled with the logistics and cargo collection capacity of the ILSTC, said an official of the Jimunai, Xinjiang.

This June, departing from a Hami melon planting base 40 kilometers away from Turpan, Xinjiang, six cold chain shuttle buses set off to Bangkok, Thailand, via Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality. This further emphasizes Chongqing's leading role in the corridor operation.

Besides, the related departments signed a multilateral strategic cooperation agreement with the New Land-sea Corridor Operation Co., Ltd. for the ILSTC joint construction, where all parties should give full play to their respective resource advantages.

Relying on Chongqing's operation and organization center, all parties jointly promote the modern logistics operation system of the ILSTC with the channel, port, hub, and network integration. This will help the high-quality opening-up development of Chongqing and Xinjiang and boost the regional economic development along the corridor.
