Chongqing Museums Seek Cooperation with Hongkong and Macao

Chongqing- The 2022 "Beautiful China – Experience with Heart & Eyes" Promotion Conference and the 2022 Hong Kong and Macao Culture & Tourism Promotion Ceremony took place in Beijing on July 27.

The conference addressed the cultural and tourism cooperation among the Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong, and Macao via online and on-site interaction. At the same time, the discussion focused on promoting canal tours in Shandong, Jiangsu, and Zhejiang Provinces, as well as exploring museum resources exchanges in Hubei Province, Chongqing, and Sichuan Province, as the Hong Kong Palace Museum opened on July 3.

Yang Runxiong, Director of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, mentioned in his speech that Hong Kong is a hotspot for international and Mainland tourists.

"In the future, Hong Kong will actively promote the integration of culture and tourism, improve tourist facilities, and innovate tourism products and projects with special features, to prepare for the return of visitors," he added.

Li Weinong, Secretary for Economy and Finance of Macao Special Administrative Region, said that the event would help Macao residents experience the tourism resources and profound history and culture of the Chinese Mainland from different perspectives.

As the sub venue, Chongqing has introduced the Chongqing China Three Gorges Museum and its fantastic collections, unique exhibitions, cultural and creative products, and development experiences. The event showcased the unique charm of the Bayu culture, Three Gorges culture, and other aspects. During the interactive Q&A segment, tourism practitioners from Chongqing, Hong Kong, and Macao actively exchanged and laid a foundation for deeper cultural and tourism cooperation among the three places.

In recent years, Chongqing has been working on building its tourism brand "A Land of Natural Beauty, A City with Cultural Appeal" and its Bashu Cultural Tourism Corridor construction.

So far, there are 125 museums in Chongqing, among which 112 are free of charge. The next step for Chongqing is to improve the capacity for the scientific and technological innovation of cultural heritage and vigorously develop the creative industry of cultural heritage.

As the Hong Kong Palace Museum opened recently, Chongqing hopes to enhance the cooperation between the museums in Chongqing and Hong Kong. Both places can share some experience in museum management and curation, co-organize museum-related research activities, and deepen the friendship between the youth of Chongqing and Hong Kong.
