Let's Talk About Democracy | Chinese Mode is to Solve Problems ②

By GAOWEI ZHANGALEX REPORTERFYXUANQI YUAN|Aug 19,2022

Chongqing– Last week, iChongqing released the first episode of the round table talk show: Let's Talk About Democracy | China's Consultative Democracy

In episode 2, Professor Zhang Weiwei explains that there is a stereotype that Western audiences and politicians have about democracy in China, primarily shaped by a Cold War mentality. However, the stereotype ignores that China's mode is to solve problems: its political, economic, and social policies aim to improve people's lives, both material and non-material, and its tactics can be adjusted, changed, and reformed. While the Chinese method is not perfect, it meets the requirements for identifying problems and their causes and solving them on time.

Daniel Dumbrill lived in Shenzhen when the Covid began and describes his observations during Covid-19. Although he was scared, he understood why the lockdown and the "dynamic clearance" were necessary. Compared to the United States (one million people lost their lives, and many lost their grandparents), the direct result is that the life expectancy in the US is now lower than that in China (China 77.9, United States 77). This will be much worse if China adopts American policy, and we may have to lock down even longer.
