Chongqing- A total of 70 business projects were signed with a total value of 212.1 billion yuan (about 31 billion U.S. dollars) at the Smart China Expo (SCE) 2022 Key Projects Signing Ceremony in Chongqing on August 22.

Under the theme of "Smart Technology: Empowering Economy, Enriching Life," as part of the signing ceremony, Chongqing strengthened its connections with industry leaders at home and abroad and signed a series of major cooperation projects focusing on key areas such as big data and intelligent technology.

There were 54 projects with contracts exceeding one billion yuan, 80% in strategic emerging industries. These projects are expected to further expand Chongqing's smart technology sector and create a "Smart Manufacturing Powerhouse" and "Famous Smart City" image.

In the smart and internet-connected new energy vehicles field, 18 projects focused on boosting the parts and components industry were signed with a contract investment value of 83.3 billion yuan.

With an emphasis on industrial software, 14 projects worth 33 billion yuan invested by well-known enterprises such as Kingdee, ThunderSoft, and Perfect World were signed to accelerate software information industrial agglomeration.

"A log management system will be maintained to keep track of these projects signed during SCE 2022," said a Chongqing Municipal Bureau of Investment Promotion and Facilitation representative. "To facilitate project implementation, we will supervise the project owner's responsibilities and promote departments' integration, coordination, and service."

Thirteen projects with a total investment value of 22.4 billion yuan were signed to boost smart manufacturing in the electronics and equipment industries. Among them are a 6-inch IGBT wafer production line, an 8-inch wafer fabrication method, and the Chongqing Institute of Carbon-based Integrated Circuits of Peking University.

Chongqing will benefit from this to support key enterprises in creating industrial Internet platforms of industrial nature and transforming and upgrading its equipment manufacturing industry.

As part of the development of the biomedicine industry, six projects were signed with a total value of 12.8 billion yuan, including the R&D and industrialization of antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) and a new micro-dose medical CBS-CT machine production line.

ADCs, which combine the selectivity of antibodies with the potency of cytotoxins, represent a rapidly growing field in cancer therapy.

In addition, a group of projects related to new energy, new materials, private equity, and other industries also signed agreements.
