Chongqing- Recently, Sichuan Province and Chongqing Municipality jointly planned 20 major energy projects, with a total investment of 900 billion yuan (about 130 billion U.S. dollars), to improve energy integration, according to the Chongqing Development and Reform Commission.
Under the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle framework, Sichuan and Chongqing introduced the Sichuan-Chongqing Green Energy and Low-carbon Development Plan. They strived to build a clean, low-carbon, safe, and efficient energy system in the circle by 2025.
The plan proposes to promote the development of Sichuan's "three rivers" hydropower base, including the Jinsha River, Dadu River, and Yalong River, building wind power and photovoltaic bases, and a Sichuan-Chongqing natural gas base of a hundred billion cubic meters.
In energy storage, both sides will build several pumped storage power stations and new energy storage power stations. They will also jointly build a gas storage and peak regulating base of 10 billion cubic meters in Southwest China to improve the reserve capacity of refined oil products.
Meanwhile, Sichuan and Chongqing will jointly build a green transport corridor to promote the clean use of fossil energy. A series of coordinated measures will also be accelerated, including electricity replacement, efficient use of natural gas, and reducing the carbon footprint of energy production.
Energy industry chains are inextricably linked to the implementation of these projects. As part of the plan, clean energy equipment manufacturing will be strengthened, new energy technologies and business forms will be developed, fundamental energy science and technology breakthroughs will be increased, and a batch of well-known energy industry brands "made in Sichuan and Chongqing," will be created.
The Sichuan-Chongqing energy cooperative development pattern is taking shape, and their mutual energy protection capacity is constantly improving.
